What is Shingles?
Shingles is a painful skin rash caused by the reactivation of the chickenpox virus (varicella-zoster). It typically affects older adults or those with weakened immune systems. Symptoms include a burning, tingling sensation followed by a red rash, blisters, and nerve pain that can last for weeks or even months. In some cases, shingles can lead to serious complications such as postherpetic neuralgia (chronic nerve pain).

What is the Shingles Vaccine?
The shingles vaccine helps protect against the varicella-zoster virus, reducing the risk of developing shingles and lessening the severity if it does occur. It works by boosting your body’s immunity to the virus. The vaccine used in our clinic is a non-live, recombinant vaccine that provides long-lasting protection and is suitable for individuals with certain medical conditions.
The vaccine is administered as an injection in the upper arm. Two doses are typically required for full protection, spaced a few months apart.
Price
£200 per dose.
